The last MPA meeting of the 2008-9 school year was held on May 19. Unfortunately, this was Susan Mostowy's last meeting as President. We thank her for her outstanding support and leadership during her tenure! A new President will be named over the summer.
Here are highlights from the MPA meeting:
- EO Smith Foundation Grant was received in the amount of $1400 which is enough to fund the cost of a computer and networking for one practice room to have Smart Music available.
- Music Parents have donated $1000 to help fund the cost of equipping a second training room with computer and networking and Smart Music
- The meeting date for Music Parents will be moved to the third Tuesday of the month beginning in September 2009.
- A Music Parents banner will be ordered before the beginning of the school year. We decided to spend between $100 and $200 for the banner which will be used at Open House, and all concerts at the refreshment table.
- The current slate of officers (Susan Mostowy, Peter Stevens and Lauren Olson) will meet after the school year is over to revamp the bylaws and create a succession plan, position and task descriptions, etc.
- There may be a mid-August meeting to put the new organization’s plans into place before school starts.
